Smoky Eyes with Living Nature

Living Nature Slate Eyeshadow

Living Nature are a brand that I've wanted to try, ever since looking into more natural make up. All of their products are certified natural and are free from synthetic preservatives and other chemical nasties. Living Nature use healing plants from New Zealand to create potent botanical products that work together to enhance skin's beauty. Even the most sensitive of skin can use their products.

I was very generously sent the Living Nature Slate Eyeshadow* and the recyclable Eyeshadow Compact* too. I love the compact as it's made of completely recyclable material and comes with a sponge applicator. I personally won't use the applicator so I'll be throwing that away and this then gives me 2 more spaces for eyeshadows. The compact is really lightweight and not too bulky, making it perfect to take on trips away.

Staying Motivated in Winter

Winter is depressing. We go to work in the dark, go home in the dark and it's so friggin' cold that we have to scrape the car in the morning - bye bye extra 10 minutes in bed :(. With this being said it's so hard to get motivated to work out. All I want to do when I get home after work is put the fire on, put my feet up under a blanket, watch Christmas films and eat my weight in Christmas goodies. However, doing that every night will not get me the body I want so whenever I feel like I really can't be bothered I look to these people as inspiration and they motivate me to get my arse in the gym and get lifting those weights!

Treats in Stratford-Upon-Avon

Stratford 1

At the beginning of November Anthony and I went to Stratford-Upon-Avon for the day. Stratford-Upon-Avon is home to The Attic Theatre where resident theatre company Tread The Boards perform. Their latest play was Dracula, inspired by Halloween no doubt and we booked tickets a few weeks ago.

We went to see their production of Pride & Prejudice last year and it was really good - even Anthony enjoyed it and he's not one for the theatre. I've been looking out for something else to go and see and when Dracula came up I knew we had to go. We both love horror fiction/gothic stories and Dracula is one of the greats. We couldn't make the performance on Halloween, so we decided to go the weekend afterwards instead and we booked the Saturday matinee.

Botanicals Lemongrass Hand Balm

Botanicals Hand Balm

Botanicals is a brand that I adore and everything I've tried from them so far has been great, so I was super excited when they agreed to send me a sample of their new Lemongrass Hand Balm*. As the winter winds start to appear and the temperature drops I find my hands take a battering. My skin dries out and cracks and they become really sore after a while, so a good hand balm is a winter essential for me.

Botanicals Lemongrass Hand Balm* is a revitalising and conditioning balm that is full of active ingredents and essential fatty acids to improve skin texture. It includes Organic Shea Butter to moisturise and Lemongrass and Mandarin to help support the skin's ability to heal and regenerate.

After using this for a couple of weeks now I can say that I've been really impressed with this. I'm fussy with hand

5 Ways To Hydrate Your Skin For Winter

5 Ways To Hydrate Your Skin

The weather is turning colder, the nights are drawing in and the leaves are falling from the trees, meaning that Autumn is well and truly here. I love Autumn - drinking hot chocolate, wearing jumpers and scarves, cosy nights in front of the fire with blankets watching TV - it's definitely my favourite season. It was also my birthday in October so I might be biased (although birthdays get much less exciting once you're past 25 and I'd quite like to stop counting now thanks!).

The one thing that I don't like about Autumn is that my skin reacts to the change in weather and not in a good way. I used to think that I had normal skin but over the last couple of years it's become more combination - I have dry patches on my cheeks/by my nose and a slightly oily forehead and chin. In the summer it isn't so bad but when the cold weather hits my dry patches really start to show and anything I put on my face makes it look flaky

Multipower 53% Protein Bar

Multipower Protein Bar

I was so pleased when an email dropped into my inbox a couple of weeks ago asking if I wanted to try some of Multipower's new 53% Protein Bars*. Erm...of course I do! I usually stick to protein shakes and I have one after the gym and then one the morning after a workout too, but sometimes it's too much of a rush in the morning so I thought the bars would be a great substitute to grab as I'm running out the door.

I want to try counting macros at some point but that's a big scary world and I'm not sure if I'm quite ready for that yet, so I've just been concentrating on adding more protein into my diet as it's essential for muscle recovery. One shake gives me around 20 grams of protein and these bars offer 27 grams of protein, so I'm actually getting more in a bar than my normal shake.

Bloomtown Botanicals Sugar Srubs

Bloomtown Botanicals Sugar Scrubs

I've been trialling these Bloomtown Botanicals' Sugar Scrubs* for a few weeks now and thought it was time to share them with you. Bloomtown Botanicals is a brand that create sustainable beauty products that have no nasty chemicals in them. All of their products are free from palm oil and a percentage of their profits are donated to environmental and animal charities. It's great when you find a cruelty free company that goes that extra mile to give something back.

I was very kindly sent 2 Sugar Scrubs to try out and these are the products I was most excited to try. I have terribly dry skin on my legs and I need to exfoliate a LOT. I'm usually a scrub floozy and pick up whatevers on offer but I've recently been looking for scrubs and skincare that will really benefit my skin. I try and exfoliate my legs at least twice a week, sometimes more in the winter, otherwise it looks like I'm shedding a layer of skin (not pretty!).

Fitness Update #1

Fitness Update

I've been going to the gym for around 4 months now, which is officially the longest time I've stuck at any sort of exercise (go me!), so I thought I'd do a little fitness update. I might make this into a regular thing if it goes well and you guys enjoy reading it, so let me know what you think in the comments.

I love lifting weights. I'm not a cardio girl and I always hated the thought of getting on the treadmill and (attempting) to run for an hour, 4 times a week. I think that's why I never stuck at the gym before - it was boring and I wasn't seeing the results I wanted. With lifting weights I can see progression week after week and that's what keeps me motivated to keep going.

When I first started going to the gym I went with Anthony and he showed me what exercises to do and how to

Bloomtown Botanicals Nourishing Soap Bars

On my mission to find more natural and organic products I came across Bloomtown Botanicals on Twitter and they very kindly agreed to send me some samples of their products to try. When they arrived I saw that 3 full sized products had been included and one sample product, which is so very generous of them. Today I am reviewing 2 of the full sized Nourishing Soap Bars * for you guys and (spoiler alert) they're great!!

Bloomtown Botanicals started when Preyanka and her husband Medwin moved to Indonesia and saw for themselves the effects of palm oil cultivation - the loss of forests that are home to endangered species, such as orangutans and tigers. As a result of this they have removed palm oil from their lives and decided to make palm oil free products, as most shop bought shampoos, conditioners and lotions include palm oil. This coupled with Preyanka's passion for aromatherapy and botany created Bloomtown Botanicals, who produce cruelty free and

Lyonsleaf Beauty Balm

Lyonsleaf Beauty Balm

My skin is ridiculously bad at the moment. It's having a bad reaction to the change in weather this year and it's driving me insane! I used to have normal skin but in the last year or so it's become combination, with dry patches on my cheeks but slightly oily everywhere else. In the last couple of weeks my dry patches are becoming really noticeable and I'm switching up my skincare routine to account for that. I'm also trying to use more natural/organic products at the moment to try and cut down on all the bad ingredients that are penetrating my skin.

One thing I've added back in to my routine that met the requirements for natural and nourishing is the Lyonsleaf Beauty Balm. Lyonsleaf started out on a small farm in Somerset by Vicky and Ben Lyons. They started making their beauty products by using home-grown ingredients from their farm, to ensure that their products were 100%

New The Body Shop Products

Body Shop SPF and Foundation

I love The Body Shop. I've tried several of their products and ranges over the last few years and there isn't much that I haven't liked. I know some people don't buy from The Body Shop as they are owned by L'Oreal who aren't cruelty free (boo L'Oreal), but I personally don't take into account parent companies when I buy from a cruelty free brand and you can read more about why here.

I was looking for a new foundation a couple of months ago and The Body Shop's Fresh Nude Foundation had brilliant recommendations, so I thought I would give it a go. I also needed a new SPF as my old one had gone off, so I picked up the Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence from them too while I was there. I've been using both for around 6 weeks now and I thought it was time to review them for you guys.

September Haul & First Impressions

September Haul

I had a little bit of spare cash this month, so I thought I'd treat myself to some new beauty bits. I always like reading hauls and I don't think I've done one on here before, so I thought I'd share what I got with you guys and throw in some first impressions too. I've been trying these out for around a week and a half now and some of these will be getting their own time to shine once I've tested them a bit more.

NYX Lip Lingerie in Baby Doll - £6.50

OMG this is amazing! I struggled in the shop between the shades Baby Doll and Lace Detail for about 45 minutes, with Anthony sighing at me in intervals to hurry up. I picked Baby Doll in the end and I'm sooooo glad that I did. It's slightly more pink toned than the others, which I don't usually go for, but it looks super natural on the lips. It

Botanicals Rose & Geranium Nourish Body Polish

Botanicals Body Polish Review

It's Organic Beauty Week from the 19th - 25th September and Botanicals have released three new exciting body care products to celebrate: Rose & Geranium Nourish Body Polish, Nourishing Body Lotion and  Nourishing Hand Cream and I was very kindly sent a sample of the Rose & Geranium Body Polish* to review for you.

Botanicals are certified by the Soil Association and only use certified organic ingredients in their products, so you can be sure that you're not putting any nasties on your skin with their products and that's one of the reasons why I love this brand.

I hopped in the shower and gave this a thorough test and I was not disappointed. The first thing I noticed about this is it is quite a firm body polish and you need to mix it with a little bit of water in order to work it onto the skin. It

Lush-ious Lips

Lush Lip Scrub and Lip Balm

First off forgive me for the title of this post - I can never resist a good pun! Also I apologise for the state of my lip balm's label - it wears off easily, but it shows how well loved it is!

I've been loving my liquid lipsticks lately, as they make my lips look amazing. I love matte lips and liquid lipsticks make that trend so easy to wear. However, it does take it's toll on my lips. They've become really dry and flaky, so I've had to up my lip care game.

Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub - £5.50

The first thing that's been saving my lips is Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub. This does a great job of exfoliating my lips

Why I Love The Gym

Why I Love The Gym

I started going to the gym around 3 months ago now and I love it. I've turned into a proper gym bunny, even if I do say so myself. This is the longest I've managed to keep it up and I'm still really enjoying it - I'm a changed woman. I've tried working out at home before - buying fitness DVDs, following YouTube videos and I even attempted running at one point, but those routines weren't sustainable for me. I think I've finally found my workout niche and I'm loving it, so here are a few reasons why I prefer going to a gym to working out at home/outside/etc.

1. I have to schedule it in. Because I have to go out the house and go to the gym it means I have to make time for it. If I work out at home I can easily say I'll do it later and then never get around to it, whereas if I set days to go to the gym then I'm more likely to stick to my schedule. It also helps that I go with Anthony, so I feel extra guilty if I back out of it for a silly reason, for example: I can't be arsed!

My Summer Skincare Routine

I've recently stripped back my skincare routine as my skin felt completely overwhelmed with my last routine. I was using more products than I could count on both hands and my skin was having a complete freakout, so once I got back from holiday I started again. I've been doing this routine now for a couple of months and feel like I've pretty much nailed it, so now is the time to share!

Morning

I love my sleep, so anything that allows me to lay in bed for an extra 10 minutes is brilliant. This routine only takes me 5 minutes, but my skin feels refreshed and nourished for the day ahead. I start by cleansing my face with The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser; I put some on a cotton pad and wipe the night's sweat and grime off my

5 Reasons I Wear Loose Joggers Instead Of Yoga Pants At The Gym

Joggers To The Gym

Instagram, Twitter, Blogs: They all portray women working out in tight yoga pants or leggings. Which is fine if you're that way inclined, but I'm just so not! No matter what I do I just can't get on with wearing bottoms that are too clingy when I'm at the gym - they irritate me too much. So here are 5 reasons why I personally don't wear leggings to the gym.

1. They come down when I'm squatting. Because they're so tight they ride down when I'm doing squats and worrying about whether my bum is showing is definitely something I don't need when trying to concentrate on lifting 35kgs without falling on previously mentioned bottom! (35kgs is my personal best and I'm super proud of that!)

Strong, Healthy Nails Courtesy Of Barry M

Strong Nails Barry M

I've had acrylic nails quite a few times now and although they look great when they're on, it's the aftermath that always makes me regret getting them done. Luckily my nails are naturally strong and long and I've never been one for biting my nails, so when I do have them done it's usually for special occasions or holidays. It's when I come to take them off that the question of 'why did I ever do this?' comes up. It's a little like having a tattoo in that after a while you forget about the pain/hassle as they look so darn pretty and you think it won't be that bad, then BAM ... you're kicking yourself for not remembering the pain last time round! Although tattoos are always worth the pain!!

The last time I had acrylics I actually found a way to make my nails look nice and strong after I'd removed them and it's all down to these 2 beauties. The Barry M Super Mani 7-in-1 Treatment and Barry M Mani Mask in Bashful.

Foundation-Less Make Up Routine

Foundation Less Make Up Routine

Since coming back from holiday I haven't worn a scrap of foundation and I tell you now: I'm bloody loving it! My skin looks so much better without it at the moment and even though that's probably because I have a bit of a tan, I also think it's because I'm not caking my skin in make up everyday. It's nice not to have to worry about whether my foundation is congealing, or scratching my face and having make up under my nails; gross, I know! In short it's lovely, so I thought I'd share what make up I am wearing and loving at the moment.

I start with Soap & Glory Bright Here, Bright Now Instant Radiance Energy Boost Balm (what a mouthful!) and smooth that all over my face. It gives my skin a natural glow, as I'm all for a dewy base. I conceal under my eyes with the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector and Essence All About Matt Concealer over the top. I also use this concealer to cover any redness, usually round my nose and on my chin, and any blemishes too. I blend this in

Healthy Cookies That Taste Amazing

Healthy Cookies

In an effort to be more healthy Anthony and I have banned ourselves from buying any biscuits, chocolate or cake in the weekly shop. Our theory is that if they're not in the house then we won't eat them. It's funny how that works, ey?! However, I do miss my sweet treats, especially after dinner, and I thought I'd try my hand at baking something sweet that's not full of crap.

Enter these little babies: Zanna Van Dijk's The Ultimate Healthy Chocolate Chip Cookies. I've been following Zanna for ages on Instagram but it wasn't until I saw Anna's post that I realised she had recipes on her website. They all look so tasty but these were the ones I wanted to try first as I had most of the ingredients in my cupboard already.

The Infinity Dreams Tag

Infinity Dreams Tag

I don't often do many tags on here but this one sounded like fun and I thought hey, what better way to mix up my posts and ease myself back into blogging? I was tagged by the extremely lovely Steph over at The Zombie Said - go check her out, she's a total babe!

The idea of this tag is to list 11 facts about yourself, answer the 11 questions set for you by your nominator and then tag 11 other bloggers to answer 11 questions you've created for them. Easy right? So here goes....

Reflecting On Life and Blogging

Reflecting

Hey there strangers, it's been a while! I'm terribly sorry about the lack of posts around here lately but while I've been away from blogging it's given me time to reassess my little space here. Also as this is my 99th post (who'd have thought it?!) on my blog I thought this would be a good time for a little announcement!

I love writing about beauty and it's what encouraged me to start blogging; so I could share all my favourite products with you guys. I still love doing that but I feel that I have other things that I want to share with you guys too. Since starting the gym and having more life adventures I've realised that I have other interests that I want to write about too, so I've decided that I'm going to mix things up a little on here and I hope you guys don't mind too much.

The One Face Mask You Need To Own

B. Revealed Glycolic Cleansing Peel

Today I'm introducing you to a small miracle worker. I mean this isn't going to cure blindness or anything but skin-wise it's a real doozy - you're going to want to pay attention to this. I picked up the B. Revealed Glycolic Cleansing Peel after reading so many rave reviews about it. It was on offer at £3.95 when I was in Superdrug so I snatched it up. It claims to leave skin looking and feeling expertly clean, fresh and smooth and encourages a brighter, healthier and more radiant complexion. It includes Glycolic Acid to gently exfoliate and Cocoa and Shea butters to soothe.

I've been using this for a good few weeks now and my skin has never been happier (I have overhauled my skincare routine for Spring though, so I think my good skin is a combination of both). When I started using this I used it every other day as I had quite bad skin at the time and I saw an improvement after just a couple of weeks.

GOSH Primer Plus Illuminating Skin Perfector

GOSH Primer Plus Illuminating Skin Perfector

I was always happy with my Rimmel Lating Finish Primer, but when it ran out I needed a new cruelty free primer instead. I'd recently bought the GOSH X-Ceptional Wear Foundation and loved it, so I thought why not try one of their primers. Now I'm all for that glowy skin lately, so naturally I gravitated towards the GOSH Primer Plus Illuminating Skin Perfector and I must say I'm not disappointed. This primer claims to even skin tone, reduce imperfections, smooth pores & fine lines and give a healthy natural glow. It includes pearl pigments to deliver a supple, dewy base that lasts all day - sounds right up my street.

The Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer was a white cream that became transparent on the skin, so I was a little surprised when I saw the GOSH one was skin coloured. This isn't a bad thing at all, just me being used to a white primer and I actually really like that it's tinted as it provides my face with a bit of extra colour. I was expecting to

A Lush Shampoo & Conditioner Combo

Lush Shampoo & Conditioner

I always have a hard time finding shampoo and conditioners that I like. I naturally have fine hair but I have quite a lot of it and with it being dark it shows up grease really easily. Therefore my shampoo has to clean my hair thoroughly so that I can get away with a good few days before I have to wash it again, but without making it too dry. A conditioner needs to make my hair soft and manageable but not make it greasy. With that said these two seem to be doing a pretty good job of meeting my high standards.

I've had a Lush shampoo bar before and I absolutely loved it. It was the Squeaky Green bar and it was amazing for my hair - full review here. However, when I looked into getting another one I realised it's been discontinued, so off I trotted to Lush to ask the ever helpful assistants what they recommend in it's place. I spoke to a lovely lady that

Cleanser Collection

Cleanser Collection

I've been loving my cleansers lately and I have quite a few on rotation at the moment. Nothing beats coming home from a long day at work and removing all my make up and the grime of the day. I never used to really like cleansing but it's now become one of my favourite parts of my routine. I have quite a big collection at the moment and I pick which one to use depending on how my skin feels at the time. Here's the ones that currently have a place on my bathroom shelf.

Superdrug Naturally Radiant Hot Cloth Cleanser - £5.99
This is the newest cleanser I've added to my collection. I've only used this a handful of times, but I like it so far. It's a cream cleanser which makes it super quick to use and it also removes make up too. I like to massage this in and then put a hot flannel (but not too hot!) over my face for a couple of minutes to really clean out my pores - it feels

The Best Liquid Eyeliners

Best Liquid Eyeliners

I love a good winged eyeliner look. It's my go to look when I don't know how I want to do my make up - my fail safe if you will. Hence to say I've tried a lot of liquid eyeliners and my personal favourites for a perfect wing are of the felt tip pen variety. They're the easiest to use as the pen makes them easy to hold and get a precise line, there's no faffing about with a pot of gel and trying to get just the right amount of product on the brush and they last much longer than a kohl. I love a kohl eyeliner but I use them to smoke up my eyes - they're never practical for a winged look as I find they smudge too easily. So with that in mind here are my two favourite liquid eyeliners.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper - $19.00
This gives the absolute blackest of black lines - it's the most intense eyeliner I've ever tried. The tip is super easy to use as it's really sturdy and easy to draw the line on exactly where you want it. You only need to draw the line

My New Favourite Foundation

GOSH X-Ceptional Wear Foundation

I have a new foundation love: GOSH X-Ceptional Wear Foundation in Natural.

Now, we did have a rocky start. The first few times I applied this I used my Real Techniques Buffing Brush and it didn't blend in to my skin at all. It sat on top looking cakey and collected in the smallest of dry patches - it looked horrible. I then decided to try and apply it with my fingers instead, thinking that the warmth of my fingers might make it blend better and it was a revelation. It blended amazingly and looked great. I have since tried it again with my buffing brush and it still looks great (that's how I apply it everyday now), so I'm not sure why it didn't work out the first few times.

Anywho on to the actual foundation. I would say this is a medium coverage but it can be sheer by just using a

Masks To Help WIth Acne

Masks For Acne

Firstly I have a new background - yay! My mum got it for me when we went shopping last weekend and I love it!

Now on to the post. My acne has been playing up again recently, as I've had a stinking cold. I always find that I get spots whenever I'm about to get ill and then they last ages; way after I've fought off whatever illness I had. Therefore I've been masking my ass off to try and get my face back to a reputable state and I thought I'd share my favourites with you today.

B. Revealed Glycolic Cleansing Peel - £7.99
This is my favourite mask ever! It's an exfoliating peel that really helps to smooth my skin, as it removes any dead skin cells. My face always feel really supple after using this but it never feels stripped at all. I've definitely noticed the most difference in my acne since adding this mask into my rotation and I love the fact that it only has to stay

Current Cruelty Free Favourites

Current Cruelty Free Favourites

Sorry I've been a bit MIA recently but life happened you know?! Also I've been looking into more cruelty free products and doing some research so I've been a little busy. Anyway I thought for my comeback post I'd share some of the cruelty free products I've been loving recently.

GOSH X-Ceptional Wear Foundation in Natural - £7.99
This is an amazing foundation. We didn't get off to a great start and I wasn't sure at first, but I persevered and tried some different ways of application and now it's a full blown love affair. It makes my skin look really dewy and it's a great coverage without looking cakey. It also matches my skin colour perfectly. I have a full review of this coming soon, so keep your eyes peeled.

Cruelty Free Skincare with Superdrug

Superdrug Vitamin E Range

I recently read Steph's post about Why Go Cruelty Free? and it really made me think about the beauty products that I use and what goes into making them. I've since done some research on animal testing in the cosmetics industry and it's appalling what happens to poor, defenceless animals for the sake of our vanity. I won't go into too much detail here as there are plenty of articles out there where you can find out more information about animal testing, but if this is something that you're interested in then definitely give Steph's post a read. I've since made a decision to try and go cruelty free with my beauty products. I won't be throwing away all my products that I already have, as that's just wasteful but if I buy any new products I'm going to try and buy only from cruelty free brands.

One of these brands is Superdrug. All of their own branded products are Leaping Bunny approved and are entirely cruelty free. I already owned some of their Vitamin E range and abcolutely love it, so I was over the moon

Botanicals Spa Detox Aromatic Body Oil

Botanicals Spa Detox Oil

I was very kindly sent the Botanicals Spa Detox Aromatic Body Oil* to try out last week and after using this continously every day since I've had it I thought it was time to do a review and let you guys know what I think.

The Botanicals Spa Detox Aromatic Body Oil* is the latest addition to Botanicals' Massage Oils Spa Detox Collection. This oil contains a mix of essential oils to stimulate circulation, eliminate toxins, strengthen capillaries and discourage fluid retention. The Spa Detox Oil is 100% natural and 99% organic meaning it doesn't contain any harmful ingredients or artificial colours or fragrances. I also recently found out that Botanicals is a cruelty free brand too, which is becoming more important to me lately but I'll mention more about that in another post.

This is such a lovely oil. It smells of lavender and has a lovely relaxing aroma to it. Whenever I use this it instantly makes me feel calm, which is why I like to use this at night just after I get out the shower, so I feel nice and calm

Barry M Sunset Nail Paints

Barry M Sunset Nail Paints

Last weekend I added to my collection of Barry M Sunset Nail Paints and remembered how much I actually love them, so I thought today I would share the love with you guys. I picked up 'Dark Side of The Shroom' and 'Plum On Baby' as Superdrug had an offer on. It was 'Dark Side Of The Shroom' that caught my eye as it's the loveliest mauve shade and it gave me all the heart eye emojis - I just had to have it!

The idea behind these nail polishes is that by using the Sunset Nail Paints first and then using the Sunset Daylight Curing Top Coat over the top it gives you gel effect nails without having to cure them with a UV Lamp - as suggested in the name the topcoat cures the nails with the use of daylight instead. I can vouch that this system does give your nails a lovely finish and they look like gel nails, but without having to fork out the money for a real gel manicure. They're really easy to use too - you just use the coloured nail polish first and apply 1 or 2 coats of this, depending on how deep you want the colour, and then apply the Sunset Top Coat over the top - simple. It's

Empty Casket Jewellery

Empty Casket

Today I want to let you know about a brilliant new shop I found via Instagram: Empty Casket. They're a jewellery store that specialise in witchy jewellery and stock everything from chokers to rings and even a few trinkets too, all at great prices. I can't remember exactly whose Instagram I first saw the competition on, but Empty Casket ran a competition to win a £50 voucher and someone I follow had posted it on their feed. I had a browse through their site and instantly fell in love with everything! There was one thing that caught my eye that I HAD to have and I ordered it straight away.

How I Wash My Make Up Brushes

How I Wash My Make Up Brushes

I thought I'd talk about how I wash my make up brushes today. I'm absolutely crap at washing them and don't do it nearly as often as I should but when I do I make sure to give them a thorough clean.

I got this mitt off ebay about 2 years ago now and I think it was listed as an oven mitt actually. It was around £1.50 / £2 which is such a bargain. This is brilliant for cleaning your brushes as the raised arrows get right into the brush. I also love the fact that it has bigger arrows and smaller arrows, so it's great for cleaning big and small brushes. There's 2 brush cleaners that I use: Tesco Baby Shampoo and Dr Bronner's Liquid Soap in Rose. I much prefer the Dr Bronner's Liquid Soap in Rose as I find it leaves my brushes much softer and it also cleans them much quicker. If I don't have any however I'll use Tesco Baby Shampoo. This does the job well enough and my brushes are always clean in the end, but it takes much more scrubbing and when you have 15 + brushes to do and 2 sponges it can take quite a while!

Botanicals Gentle Facial Polish

Botanicals Gentle Facial Polish

I find that I'm not usually very loyal to scrubs or exfoliators and tend to just pick up the one that catches my eye in Boots or Superdrug when I've ran out of my current one, so when the Botanicals Gentle Facial Polish* dropped through my door I was excited to see if this was the one that I would finally love. Botanicals is a brand that uses natural and organic ingredients and they are certified by the Soil Association, which you can read more about here.

There are two options of the Facial Polish: Mandarin & Chamomile (for all skin types, especially normal, combination and sensitive skin) and Rose & Camellia (for normal to dry skin and mature skin types). I have combination skin, so I opted for the Mandarin & Chamomile Facial Polish as this sounded right up my street. This product aims to restore brightness to your skin and retain moisture balance and I'm always ready to try anything

Sleek Face Contour Kit

Sleek Face Contour Kit

Look at this beauty: Sleek Face Contour Kit. I’m so in love with this product, it’s unreal. I’ve been contouring my face everyday lately, as all the chocolates and cheese over Christmas seem to have gone straight to my face and this has given me cheekbones again!

First of all I’m going to touch on the packaging. I love the sleek (pun intended), black packaging that houses this product. It has a matte finish to it, which I think makes it look so classy and sophisticated and it’s really sturdy too. I also like the fact that it has a mirror in the lid as these always come in handy.

Inside the packaging is a matte bronzing powder and illuminating highlighting powder that compliment each other really well. I have the shade Light which is a perfect match for me, no matter if

Superdrug Superberry Mud Mask

Superdrug Superberry Mud Mask

I’m having a bit of a love affair with Superdrug at the moment. Between them selling Make Up Revolution products and their own Vitamin E range, I’m totally smitten. They’re actually replacing Boots as my go to place for beauty bits at the moment. So as the story goes I was roaming around in there looking for a new face mask and came across the Superdrug Superberry Mud Mask (which seems to have been taken off the website) and thought I’d give it ago.

The Superberry Mud Mask is an exfoliating mask that contains China Clay which absorbs excess oil and raspberry seeds to gently exfoliate. I like a good clay mask and anything that claims to give me glowing skin is a must try for me, as I’m obsessed with dewy skin at the moment. First of all this mask smells amazing! It smells just like raspberries and reminds me of raspberry ripple ice cream. I personally love this smell but some people might find it a little too overpowering. The product itself is

Lee Stafford Coco Loco Balm & Lotion

Lee Stafford Coco Loco Range

I’ve noticed haircare products have been a bit scarce around these parts lately, so let’s rectify that situation now with two products I’ve been using regularly. I’ve been consciously trying to take better care of my hair and I picked up these Lee Stafford Coco Loco products just before Christmas, as I love Lee Stafford products and I also love anything that has Coconut in it. I ‘m a big fan of anything that nourishes and smoothes hair, as my hair can be quite frizzy and flyaway if left to it’s own devices, so I definitely need all the help I can get in that department.

The Coco Loco Blow & Go Genius Lotion is something you use before blow drying your hair. I towel dry my hair as much as possible once getting out the shower and then I apply an olive sized amount of product and run it through the middle and ends of my hair. I dry my hair upside down to give it that extra bit of volume meaning it can get tangled and messy, but this really helps to smooth my hair and

Make Up Revolution Advent Calendar: Part 2

Make Up Revolution Advent Calendar 2

My original plan was to publish this in between Christmas and New Year but life got in the way and I never got round to it, so I’m finally getting this up today for you to show you what was in the second half of my Make Up Revolution Advent Calendar.

Day 13 - Base Eyeshadow

As the name suggests I’ll be using this as a base colour for other eyeshadows. It provides a nice even tone to apply other shadows over the top of.

Day 14 - Hidden Lights
Pressed Highlighter
This is a nice shade that will suit all skin tones. It’s a nice highlighter to use in the day as it’s not too pigmented and doesn't look too obvious.

Make Up Revolution Vivid Baked Blush

Make Up Revolution Vivid Baked Blush

I’ve been using the Make Up Revolution Baked Blush in Make Love Instead for a few weeks now and I have to say I’m really impressed with it. So impressed that I’m giving it it’s own rave review!

I bought this on a whim in Superdrug one day when I was browsing the Make Up Revolution counter looking for something new to try. After being so impressed with their advent calendar (Part 2 of that post to come soon) I couldn’t wait to try some more from them, so I picked up this blush and an eyeshadow palette (Spoiler: I LOVE that too!).
