2016 Goals

I've put together a small goals post for next year, mainly so that I can look back on this and see how I'm getting on throughout the year. I don't usually do resolutions but there's a few things I'd like to do next year, so it's nice to have them written down. I've split the list into 2 for blog goals and then life goals.

Blog Goals

Grow My Twitter, Instagram & Bloglovin followers - This is an obvious one really, but I'd like to grow my followers and circulate my blog more.

Organise My Labels - My labels on my posts have gotten really messy and I need to streamline them.

Merry Christmas!

As it’s Christmas Eve I fancied doing a round up of a few happy things. I’m off work until the 4th January now so I’m looking forward to spending time with the family and just taking time to relax after a busy few months.

1. Putting The Christmas Tree Up. We were away for the first week of December in Poland so our Christmas tree went up a little later this year, but I felt instantly more Christmassy as soon as it was up.
2. Getting Time To Read. I’ve had so much going on over the last few months that reading got put to the back of the list of things to do. I’ve finally had chance to read more lately now that everything is quietening down and I’m loving being able to get through a book without forgetting what bit I read last.

Make Up Revolution Advent Calendar: Part 1

Make Up Revolution Advent Calendar 1

I thought I would split this down the middle and do 2 posts on what was in my Make Up Revolution Advent Calendar. I bought this when it was on offer in Superdrug for £25 – that’s £1 a product guys, what a bargain! I missed a few days as I was away in Poland and then got a bit excited and opened 6 doors in one go to catch up, so I may have got some of the days the wrong way round! Where the products have names I've put the names in brackets next to the products.

Day 1 – Red Nail Polish
I have loads of red nail polishes so this was a little underwhelming for me. It’s a nice traditional red though that will go with anything and will look lovely with a red lip.

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder

Is it weird that I reach for bronzer much more in Winter than Summer?! In Summer I tend to have a bit of a natural tan but the bright winter sun can make me look really washed out, so I always feel I need a bit of colour to brighten up my pale winter face.

I’ve dug out my trusty The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder. I have the shade Medium Matte which is the lightest shade and it's perfect for pale skin. I must admit I never use bronzer all over my face, I only use it to contour. Because I’m so pale it just looks silly and orange if I apply it all over, so I’d rather stick to adding a bit of colour with some definition – also to stop me having a moon face.

Honey Bronzing Powder is a really pigmented bronzer and a little really does go a long way. Mine looks nearly new but I’ve had this for about 2 years now and I use it on and off throughout the whole year.

Bee Good Award Winners Gift Pack

Bee Good Products

I picked this up last week when I was putting in a Love Lula Order. I needed a new morning cleanser and had heard nothing but good things about the Bee Good Honey & Propolis 2-in-1 Cream Cleanser, so I thought I’d try it. When searching for it on the website I came across the Bee Good Award Winners Gift Pack, which includes a 30ml Bee Good Honey & Propolis 2-in-1 Cream Cleanser, a muslin cloth and a 10ml Vanilla & Honey Lip Balm. I liked the idea of this as it’s a good way to try a product before buying the full size and you get a lip balm with it too for only £9.50 (and you can never have too many lip balms!). It’s also a brilliant way to explore a new brand.

The cleanser is a lovely rich cream that is a joy to apply – it feels so luxurious on the skin. I use roughly a 10p sized amount and that is easily enough to cover my whole face and neck, so even the 30ml will last me quite a while. It rinses off easily and doesn’t leave any residue behind, it just leaves

Two Make-Up Products You Need In Your Arsenal

Becca Under Eye Brightener & Inika Blush Pot

I’ve found two products over the last few months that have become absolute staples in my routine and you need to hear about them. I was doing my make up for work the other morning and realised that I’ve been using these two products religiously since the day I bought them, even though I’ve been switching up my other make up items. The more I thought about it, the more I realised that these two products have become holy grail products for me and I won’t be without these in my make up bag. These are the type of products that I’ll buy new ones of weeks before the old ones run out, just in case!

PHB Ethical Beauty Black All-In-One Mascara

PHB Ethical Beauty Black All-In-One Mascara

Spoiler Alert: This mascara is Amazing (note the capital A)!

So I was looking for a natural or organic mascara a little while back and I was recommended to try the PHB Ethical Beauty Black All-In-One Mascara, so I thought why not?, I'll give it a go. Love Lula had an offer running on their website so naturally this mascara went straight in my basket, along with a couple of other things.

PHB Ethical Beauty are a natural beauty brand that sell natural, vegan and halal certified products. The products are all handmade in the UK and they do not test on animals. I also love the fact that 15% of their Net Profit goes to charity. You can read more about the company and the ingredients they use on their website.

EGX Event

On Saturday A and I went to the EGX exhibition at the NEC. I don’t usually write about anything like this on here but I had such a good day so I thought I’d take you through some of the highlights. I wouldn’t say I’m a massive gamer but I do like certain games and play them whenever I get chance, so when A managed to get 2 tickets I jumped at the chance to go. The NEC is only a 10 minute train journey from us, so we thought we’d have a nice day out being gamer geeks – which I love to do! We got there for 11 o’clock and ended up queuing for 20 minutes in the wrong queue at first! Turns out we were in the queue for collecting wrist bands and we already had ours, but the event staff were just directing everyone into the same queue when we arrived. I’m glad we realised after only 20 minutes though as the queue was actually massive - it would probably have taken 2 hours to get round and if I’d queued in that for no reason I would have been majorly pissed off!

Organic Beauty Week Buys

Organic Beauty Buys

Last week was Organic Beauty Week and a lot of brands had offers on over the course of the week. I love a good bargain and as you may already know (because I haven’t mentioned this 100 times before!) I’m switching my beauty stash to include more natural and organic products, so I thought I would take advantage of some of the offers. I’ve put together a little post of all the things I picked up and my first impressions. I may do full reviews of some of these products in the future once I’ve had time to properly use them.

I found out via Annabel’s post that Inika were doing a fabulous offer in September where you buy a Mineral Foundation Powder and get a free Blush Puff Pot. I went straight to the site but alas it wasn’t there and no one seemed to know when it was happening. Then I had an email from Inika last Monday

Blog Love

Today’s post is a little different - as it’s Organic Beauty Week I thought I’d share some green beauty blogs that I’ve recently discovered and have been loving lately.

Amber’s Beauty Talk

Twitter: @amberbeautytalk
I found Amber’s blog through Ana’s Organic September post and it has become a firm favourite. Amber is posting every day through September in aid of Organic September and covering a variety of subjects - from organic beauty and fashion through to saving the bees and organic holidays. She also has a brilliant Green Beauty Newbie series that’s a must read for anyone who is new to organic and natural beauty. As a newbie myself this series has been a god send for me!

Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil

Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil

As I mentioned in my last post it’s Organic September this month, so carrying on with the theme I have a review on an organic product for you. Today I’m talking about Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil and it’s all good things.

A couple of weeks ago my skin had a major breakout and my chin and the bottom of my cheeks were covered in blemishes. A few days later I read about Organic September and remembered that I had a bottle of Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil in a drawer, so I dug it out to try and clear my skin up and I’ve been using it ever since.

All of Pai’s products are certified organic by the Soil Association and they have a list of all the ingredients they use on their website plainly laid out so you know exactly what you are getting. You

The Love/Hate Tag

I've been nominated to do The Love/Hate Tag by the lovely Dani from Simply Courageous. Thanks for the nomination Dani. This tag requires you to list 10 things that you hate and 10 things that you love. I love to read posts like this on blogs as it gives you an insight into the person behind the blog.

It was actually harder than I thought it would be to try and list 10 things I love and hate. It took me ages to think of 10 things I hate and I had more than 10 things I love! I've managed to get 10 of each now, so without further ado here are my lists.

10 Things I Love

1. Reading - I have always loved reading since I was a child and couldn't imagine not being able to sit

Summer Music

I love music all year round and always like to have some on round the house or in the car, just as background music. I don't really have playlists as such, I just pick songs out that I want to listen to at the time. I have favourite bands and songs that I always return to, no matter what time of year it is. So instead of a playlist I have listed some of my favourites bands and songs below that I listen to time and time again. Have you got any recommendations for me?

My New York Holiday Diary

I thought I would tell you about the summer holiday I went on last year. My fiance and I went to New York last June and it was brilliant. New York is somewhere that both of us had always wanted to go, so we thought let's do it while we can afford it and before we have too many responsibilities!

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

First of all I love this quote I found in the new issue of Porter, so had to include it in the picture!

It’s been 2 months since I started blogging now and I've decided to create a schedule for my space on the web. Sophia over at My Life Through The Eyes Of The Web has set up a blogger collaboration project and we will all be posting every Monday at 7pm. Next Monday is week 1 so make sure you check back then to find out what it’s all about. Wednesday’s post will then be a product review and Friday’s post will be whatever I fancy writing about, for example, skincare/haircare routine, lifestyle post, favourite cleansers, monthly favourites, etc. This is the first time I’ve attempted an actual schedule so we will see how it goes!

Now on to today’s review. I had my nails done before I went on holiday so that they looked nice and I

London Day Trip

On Saturday I visited London with my boyfriend, A. His tattoo artist is in London so we go down every few months and make a day of it. His appointment wasn't until 3pm so we had all morning to wander around and explore.

We got down there for 9 o'clock and after grabbing some breakfast we headed for Oxford Street. I wanted to visit the new Lush store there and pick up some exclusives, so the boyfriend indulged me as I was going to sit for 3 hours and wait for him in the tattoo studio. He couldn't really argue!

I didn't get any pictures in Lush as I completely forgot in all my excitement but let me tell you it was magical. Spread over 3 floors it's Lush's flagship store and it has all the usual products plus around 200 exclusive to the Oxford Street store. I did a bit of research about the exclusives before I went so I

A New Favourite Hand Cream From Lush

Handy Gurugu

Lush Handy Gurugu has been on my wishlist for a while now and I finally picked it up a couple of weeks ago. I have been using it every night before I go to bed and I love it.

I can get quite dry hands especially on the skin in between my knuckles and it can be really sore and tight sometimes. I'm always on the lookout for a decent hand cream that will stop my hands from being sore, so when I heard about Handy Gurugu I thought I would give it a go. It's a thick hand cream that sinks in really easily and quickly, which is a must for me as I hate to have greasy hands.

The cream is pale/mint green in colour and has a really smooth, creamy texture. It really nourishes my skin and makes my hands so soft. I like to apply a thick layer before I go to sleep and let it sink in overnight and when I wake up in the morning my hands are baby soft and don't feel dry or tight. I

A New Cleanser - Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel

I have seen so many bloggers rave about the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel but it was only last month that I finally took the plunge and purchased it. It was Rosie’s post that inspired me to click the checkout button and within 3 days it had arrived on my doorstep.

This is the first gel cleanser I have used and I first tried this in the evening to remove my make up. I use 2 pumps and smooth it all over my face, without water. It feels so luxurious on my skin and I love to stand for a couple of minutes and give my face a little massage to lift the dirt and make up. I then use a hot flannel to gently rub my face removing all the product. It has a lovely rose scent to it, which I find really relaxing and when I have more time I like to leave the hot flannel over my face (as Rosie instructed) and breath in the steam and floral aroma. You have to try it, it feels amazing! Now I know

Lush Haul

Lush Haul

On Saturday I popped into my local Lush store, as I wanted to pick up a few new skincare bits to try.

The first thing I was looking for was a night cream. I had bought the Full of Grace serum the week before and have been using it before bed, so I wanted a moisturiser to go with it. I asked the assistant for recommendations and she pointed me in the direction of Celestial. She offered me a generous sized sample so that I could try it on my face for a few days before buying the full size, which I thought was a really good idea. This is a light cream that can be used daily to smooth dry skin. It contains ingredients to protect the skin from damage while conditioning and soothing. I have tried this once so far and I like it a lot.

The next thing I was searching for was a decent hand cream that wouldn't leave my hands with a

An Introduction to Outlander

I love reading and have done since I was a child. You would always find me with a book in my hand and if I was reading a particularly good book I would rush home from school to carry on the adventure. These days I don’t get as much time to read as I would like so it takes me longer to get through a book, but I do like to try and go to bed a little earlier every night and read a few pages before I go to sleep. Sometimes I find a really brilliant book which I can’t put down and will read at every spare minute I get and very occasionally I get book hangovers.
